the rotor should slip right over the hub and lugs bolts. you need a hammer. removing that nut allows you to remove the hub assembly but not needed for just the rotors. on my 1500 I had to use a 10lb sledge to pop them loose.

Yes, that is a removable clutch cover on a KX500. No more having to remove the entire right-side outer case just to change a clutch. Back in Destry's 500 glory days Kawasaki made these for factory racers but never available to the public. This is still true today, and all the trick parts from that era have long since disappeared.
